    Location and surroundings

    The new development area on Saatwinkler Damm is characterized not only by its modern appearance, but also by its popular and family-friendly location. Siemensstadt is located in the east of the district of Spandau, on the border with Tegel, and boasts beautiful avenues and walking paths along the Spandauer Schifffahrtskanal. The Siemensstadt district takes its name from the location of the new Siemens production facilities, which were scattered throughout the city at the end of the 19th century. A residential colony for Siemens employees was planned, which was approved by the district in 1904. Originally called “Nonnendamm bei Berlin”, the residential area was renamed “Siemensstadt” in 1914 and is now home to around 13,000 residents. The center of Siemensstadt offers various supermarkets, a DIY store and a large selection of other stores. These can be reached on foot or in just a few minutes by bus. Spandau Citadel, one of the most important and best-preserved High Renaissance fortresses in Europe, is not far away and offers numerous guided tours, events and concerts.
